I’m in college and my mayor is Medical Assistant. I want to know how much you are going to get paid when you start working as a Medical Assistant?

Medical Assistant, or Physicians Assistant? When I think “Medical Assistant” I think of the person behind the counter. Physicians Assistants can make some good money now! And they know just as much as a Doctor!

It is a shame, but Medical Assistants do not make very much. In Louisiana, they make about $8.00 an hour to start. I Las Vegas, about $10. Hopes this helps!

It’s a good way to get into the field but you’ll probably want to get a more advanced degree eventually since there isn’t much room for moving up in such a specific field. Good luck.

It always depends on where you go. I got paid 15 starting out and now am making 32. I’ve been to 3 different hospitals, and each one was different. Not only where you go matters but how much they need you. If they want to keep you they’ll give you raises often. Hope this helps.

I went to a trade school for that. I wasted my time. They come out making 10-18 an hour. I would change my major.

My brother has his own clinic with several Medical Assistants. Their hourly rates are between 9-11 dollars which is not much at all. This is probably the lowerst paying job in the medical field.

I don’t think they make all that much as basically medical assistant is a glorified office position within the physician office. I gather you are going for either a certificate or an associate’s degree? Now, if you were to go for nursing, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or more, you’d definitely make decent money.

Salaries depend on the location of employment and the size of the business. Also they are commensurate with qualifications, responsibilities and experience. Small towns and small offices tend to pay lower wages. Although much remains to be done regarding the comparatively low hourly wages and lack of benefit packages the medical assisting career remains a great field to enter into for a variety of reasons.
Certified Medical Assistants generally receive higher salaries and more benefits than those without certification credentials.
Single doctors’ offices, especially specialty physicians often pay more than hospitals.
Medical assistant salary range surveys indicate that the average monthly salaries for entry level medical assistants currently range from $1,600 to $1,760 net per month.

Well it all depends on what field of Medical Assistaning you are going to be working in.
For a Medical Assistant: $12 an hour
Certified Medical Assistant: $12 an hour
Medical Phlebotmist: $11 an hour
If you were to work as an Office Manager in the Medical Office you would make about $14 an hour.
Medical Office Assistant: $12 an hour
Medical Receptionist: $11 an hour
Administrative Assistant: $12 an hour

It depends on where you work. If you work in a private office I would say roughly around $14-16 hr. Now a days most offices prefer a high degree or education level.

opinion: They pay very much it is a trend to go into a medical field. One of my family members heard their pays. Since someone in my family is a caring proffesional. Although, their is some indication that things may go overseas. Yahoo has done a report other day on it. So possibly other fields outside of medical field may have some deserving attention as well. In any case good luck on your endeavors whatever you decide to do.

You can probably expect to start out somewhere between 15 and 20 dollars an hour, or between 25 and 35 thousand a year, depending on what type of office and what city you work in.

Baby 13 must be thinking of a physician’s assistant. That is a registered nurse who has been through extensive training or a physician’s assistant program. These are people with a masters degree or very extended bachelor’s degree. A medical assistant goes to a trade or technical college for anywhere from 10 months for a basic diploma to 18 months for an associates degree. Either way, the median pay is around $9-10 and hour to start and sometimes less.

The salaries vary from city to city from state to state from doctor to doctor. The more experience you have, the higher your job offers will get.
Doctors offices hire Medical office assistants (MOA) and these people are in charge of meeting the patients , clerical duties and maintaining the examiination and treatment rooms of the office.
They also direct the patients to xrays, labs, further referrals to specialists and for surgical procedures.
I would say a brand new fresh grad will get around 9 to 11 dollars per hour, then you get salary raises from thereon.

Depends on where you live and the cost of living. I went to a trade school, and started off at a private family practice which only paid $14 an hour, then I moved to a hospital/clinic and started at almost $17. I’ve been working here for about 3 years now and get paid $20.
If I were you I would become a nurse. Once you start working as an MA, you’ll want to go higher and be nurse so you might as well do it now since you’re still in school.
Oh and stay away from Trade Schools where you can’t move your credits to a University or State college. It’s a waste of time.

My daughter is a CMA in Texas. She started at $15 HR and after a year makes $21 HR.
